Elecampane Seeds
Latin Name: Inula helenium
We absolutely love this tall towering giant. Elecampane can grow up to 6ft tall so works well as a shade barrier for sun sensitive plants. The roots of this plant are used in herbal medicine to support respiratory complaints such as helping to move stubborn coughs. We like to make a herbal syrup from Elecampane roots n the Fall to support us through cold & flu season (the roots are highly antimicrobial too!)
Family: Asteraceae
Medicinal Actions: Expectorant, antimicrobial. diaphoretic, alterative, diuretic
Planting: Plant seeds in Spring or Fall, transplant out into gardens in full sun. Harvest roots for medicine in year 2 & 3
