Coming from the greek word Melissa meaning "honey bee", this perennial member of the mint family is an important pollinator plant. This fragrant herb has been used in herbal medicine for thousands of years due to it's powerful volitile oils. Lemon Balm has traditionally been used to treat anxiety, depression, insomnia and headaches. With its immune boosting and anti-viral properties, it has been used for coldsores and shingles.
